가지 않은 길

 

The Road not Taken

 

 

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,

And sorry I could not travel both

And be one traveler, long I stood

And looked down one as far as I could

To where it bent in the undergrowth;

 

Then took the other, as just as fair,

And having perhaps the better claim,

Because it was grassy and wanted wear;

Though as for that the passing there

Had worn them really about the same,

 

And both that morning equally lay

In leaves no step had trodden black.

Oh, I kept the first for another day!

Yet knowing how way leads on to way,

I doubted if I should ever come back.

 

I shall be telling this with a sigh

Somewhere ages and ages hence:

Two roads diverged in a wood, and I,

I took the one less traveled by,

And that has made all the difference.

우리는 가끔 가지 않은 길을 상상해 봅니다.

'그 때 그랬더라면...' '그 걸 선택했더라면 어떻게 됐을까?'........

수많은 선택의 기로에서 수많은 결정을 해서

지금 걸어가고 있는 이 길...에 놓여 있는 우리는

불만족스러운 현실을 외면하듯 과거로 여행을 합니다.

가끔은 상상력을 키워 그 때 가지 않은 인생을 머리속으로나마 즐기기도 합니다.

확실한 후회는 아니지만 아쉬움과 미련이 뒤섞인 과거 그 선택의 순간즈음.

 

어쩌면 지금 행복하지 않아서 일까요?

 

인생에서 가지 않은 길은 없습니다.

가지 않았기 때문에 상상하는 그 무엇도 존재하지 않습니다.

그저 머리속에서 나뒹구는 허상일 뿐입니다.

가야만  그 길은 존재합니다.

지금 우리가 가고 있는 이 길처럼 말입니다.

오로지 지금 가고 있는 이 길이 우리의 길입니다.

다시 되돌아갈 수는 없습니다.

묵묵히 그리고 열심히 걸어가면 됩니다. 쉬어가면서.
